Problemstellung

3D-Visualisierung

Exercise
The company Automotion Steuerungstechnik GmbH needs for the training of new employees a model of a palette conveyor system. It is an assembly of a conveyor route and an automatic high-bay storage with operator unit.

Objective

Industrial facility
– realising a very realistic conveyor system
– build different conveyor routes
– Installation of industrial components (sensors, engines, …)
– Using an industrial controller system (Siemens S7-300)

Flexibility
– it should be easy to transport
– simple to assemble and disassemble
– different routes should be realizable

3D-visualisation
– Get familiar with the visualisation program (3D-Visualizer)
– Displaying the entire facility in the 3D-Animation
– Displaying the current position of the operator system and the position of the palettes
– Displaying the status of the components (sensors, engines, …) in the 3D-animation
– the project should give Information about the possible application in the economy

Project routine
– Construction of several concepts, for the constructive, as well as for the electric part of the facility
– Construction and manufacturing of a prototype (roller conveyor)
planning and calculating of the mechanical components with a 3D construction program
– Mechanical manufacturing took place in the school-internal workshop
– Assembly and electric installation
– Programming of the conveyor route (PLC programming)
– Programming of the automatic high-bay storage and the operator unit (Adjusting the servo-motor system)

Result
The ready facility can be handed over to contractor at the end of June, 2009.

Purpose

The miniature conveyor system is used for training new employees and for the simulation of PLC programmes. Moreover, the facility is used for exhibitions.

System description
To meet the requirements we decided to develop different conveyors.

We developed roller conveyors, belt conveyors, turn tables and a lifting table.

For realising different conveyor routes we built up the whole system on a flexible basis.

The conveyors are internally wired and connected with the switch via a D-Sub cable. Due to this it is very easy to change the conveyor route.

For the contractor it was very important to implement a 3D visualization of the entire facility. For this we exported the assembly file from Solid Edge, imported it in the program “3D Visualizer” and displayed it in WinCC by an ActiveX component.

The program displays the components (sensors, engines …) in different colours, depending on their status. Moreover the program shows errors in the 3D visualization program.

With a self-made user surface in WinCC we are able to control the whole facility

(manual-mode, automatic-mode, store in, store out, …).
